As I wean myself away from algorithmically driven content I’ve managed to trip over long-form media that makes me happy and envious and conspiratorial, unintentionally. This domain, nightrad.io, was bought for a musical project which was going to be a randomised mash-up of ambient music, visuals, spoken word elements, interviews from online sources with my own elements thrown in. I eventually realised that a good version of this already existed and I’d been listening to it for weeks.

NIGHT SHIFT W/DIAMONDSTEIN

I listen to NIGHT SHIFT almost exclusively when I roll into bed. I have a debloated Android audio player and in-ear headphones that stay the hell in. Listening to NIGHT SHIFT turns that melty pre-sleep and the subsequent hours into periods of ecstatic solitude and outright terror. Episodes run from an hour to two, most are collaborative efforts between DIAMONDSTEIN the host and his musical friends and cohorts. The musical sources are eclectic and episodes are thematically driven with more consistency than most full-length albums.
